Lynden P. Smithson

Lynden Smithson is Of Counsel at Keating, Bucklin & McCormack, Inc., P.S. His practice consists of litigation defense related to government and public entities, risk pools, corporations and insurance companies. Lynden also handles land use appeals defending local government.
Prior to joining KBM, Lynden practiced at a small litigation firm focusing on insurance defense and employment law cases. He joined the City of Spokane Prosecutor’s office in 2003. While there he established the Spokane Regional Domestic Violence Unit in 2011, held the position of Chief Assistant City Prosecutor and was named the Spokane City Attorney by Mayor Nadine Woodward in 2022. As City Attorney, Lynden led an office of 11 civil attorneys and 13 criminal attorneys along with 11 support staff. After a change in administration, Lynden stayed on with the City as a litigation attorney defending varying claims, as well as handling land use appeal matters. Lynden gained experience in all areas of municipal defense and has tried over 30 cases in Municipal, Superior and Federal Courts.
When Lynden is outside the courtroom you will find him coaching youth soccer in Spokane, Washington. He has coached for over twenty years earning United State Soccer Federation licenses D, C and B.
